Proud partner of 1319 Press

Kitchen Sink and 1319 Press are officially partnering to continue both companies’ goals of uplifting the work of emerging artists! Beginning in 2025, 1319 Press will now be publishing all fully realized plays that Kitchen Sink produces! This will include not only a nod in the script to any original iterations of the production and that production’s cast and crew, but also nod to the production being presented by Kitchen Sink. 1319 Press will also be available to sell scripts of each show at each performance of that show, as well as appear as a vendor in Kitchen Sink’s fundraisers!
1319 Press is an independent publishing press supporting the work of emerging playwrights, one script at a time. Our goal is to give playwrights a tangible way to share their work beyond just a PDF, to demystify theater publishing, and to create a supportive community of writers & readers.
Statement on the use of Generative AI:
Kitchen Sink Theatre Company does not accept submissions generated by AI. Generative Language Learning Models (LLMs) are trained using the mass theft of intellectual property, run on the pollution of marginalized communities, and are tools propped up by the billionaire class to automate the humanity out of our lives. KSTC exists to serve local artists who would not otherwise be recognized in a capitalist industry, a mission which is incompatible with the use of generative AI.
As a community-based company, we value hearing directly from artists, as authentic and imperfect as they are. Our mission is to make art that represents and engages with the messy truth of human existence - something LLMs can never fully capture or communicate. We would much rather see an imperfect submission that tells us who you are as an artist than a perfectly polished AI proposal.
While we cannot stop you from using supportive AI tools in your personal process, please be aware that if it’s clear you did not write your own answers, we will be unable to consider your script.
